Wang to attend G20 Foreign Ministers' meeting in Argentina

State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi will attend the G20 Foreign Ministers' meeting in Argentina, and officially visit France, Spain, Portugal and Argentina from May 16 to 24, Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang announced on Friday.

During the meeting, Wang will expound on China's proposals on three topics: the role of the G20 mechanism, multilateralism and global governance, as well as realizing fair and sustainable development, Geng said.

Wang will also meet and exchange views on bilateral ties and major international issues with foreign ministers of countries concerned.

According to the spokesman, the State Councilor will meet with French President Emmanuel Macron, Macron's top foreign policy adviser Philippe Etienne, and hold talks with French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian during his stay in France.

The two sides will exchange in-depth views over implementing the consensus reached by the two heads of state and promoting practical cooperation in all areas.

They will also exchange opinions over China-Europe ties and major international and regional issues of common concern.

During Wang's visit to Argentina, he will meet with Argentine President Mauricio Macri and have discussions with Argentine Foreign Minister Jorge Faurie.

The two sides will exchange views over the development of bilateral ties under the new conditions, practical cooperation in various areas, and the preparatory work of the G20 summit.
