Baotou, the largest industrial city in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, has been a driving force for North China’s economy since its foundation in 1947, some 70 years ago.

In the past decades, great strides have been made in the city’s social and economic development thanks to favorable government policies and a robust environment for growth.

In 2016, Baotou’s GDP reached 386.76 billion yuan ($56.32 billion), up 7.6 percent year-on-year. Per capita disposable income of urban households hit 40,955 yuan and that of rural households reaching 14,692 yuan.
