Qingdao Sanatorium of Shandong Province is responsible for providing reception and services in convalescence and healthcare, medical treatment and rehabilitation for veteran cadres of the organization department of the CPC Central Committee, and for the provincial cadres and academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering in Shandong. 

It is one of the four major rehabilitative bases in the country and the provincial-level veteran cadres' recuperation and health care base in Shandong province.

There are 63 villas of 16 different national architectural styles with a total floor area of 60,000 square meters. 

At present, the renovation, afforestation and beautification projects for 17 sanatoriums for provincial and ministerial level veteran cadres have been completed, and have effectively improved the quality of convalescent sanitation and achieved a harmonious integration of architectural beauty and the natural environment.
