The Second Hospital of Tianjin Medical University

The Second Hospital of Tianjin Medical University grew out of the former Hebei Provincial Hospital in 1972. A group of medical experts such as Shi Yushu, Gan Youqiang, Ma Tengji, Li Qingrui and Yan Chengxian were its early foundation. With more than 40 years of development, it has grown into a Grade Three Class A hospital providing medical services, teaching, scientific research and disease prevention.

Covering 86,000 sq m, the hospital has a floorage of 132,000 sq m and 1,360 beds. It was identified as a Grade Three Class A hospital in 1993 and is a regional medical center of Tianjin.

It is home to 35 clinical and 12 medical technology departments and has four municipal research institutes for urology surgery, cardiology, infectious diseases and orbital diseases and two municipal key labs for basic medicine of urology surgery and ions and molecular function in cardiovascular diseases. The urology surgery of the hospital is also a national key discipline listed in the 211 Program and a key clinical department of the State. Its cardiology is a key discipline of Tianjin.

The hospital has been certified by the China Chest Pain Center and listed as a national stroke screening base, a national hospital with quality "Post Abortion Care", a holder of the national Diabetes Education Management Certificate, and a rescue center for neonatal and maternal critical illness of Tianjin. It also has a stroke center and a pediatric respiratory and asthma research center affiliated to Tianjin Medical University.

The hospital is able to confer master's degrees and doctoral degrees in 24 and 9 of its disciplines, respectively.
