Tianjin People's Hospital was opened in May 2004 after merging with the former No 2 Central Hospital, Binjiang Hospital and No 3 Hospital of the Tianjin Red Cross Society. As one of five regional medical centers in Tianjin, its formation helped make quality medical resources more accessible and balanced.
Covering an area of 160 mu (106,666 sq m), the hospital has a floorage of 100,000 sq m and 1,200 beds. The construction started on the former site of the Xiaoxiguan Prison on March 28, 2002 and was completed on March 28, 2004.
