The People's Hospital of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region was built in 1941 and is located on the bank of the Yongjiang River and Nanhu Lake in Nanning city.

After more than 70 years of trials and tribulations, the hospital has developed itself into a large-scale comprehensive provincial third-grade class-A hospital and is the primary medical center for Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, combining medical treatment, education, scientific research and healthcare.

The hospital has two outpatient departments and one branch. In 2016, its had assets totaling 2.331 billion yuan ($371 million). It covers an area of 224,500 square meters and has a floor area of 64,585.96 square meters.

The hospital has 3,998 staff members and provides an average of 1,881 beds a year to 2.6 million outpatients and emergency visits and 74,000 discharged patients.

It has three major clinical specialties - gastroenterology, ophthalmology and clinical nursing.

There is a central garden, a helicopter landing pad and a large underground parking lot at the hospital.

The hospital showed initiative by setting up a hospital information network which allows patients to setup appointments on applications like WeChat and Alipay or by calling 114 followed by 12580.

It is Guangxi's first Internet hospital to provide self-service printing for various examination reports and films for inspection, including ECG, B-ultrasound, X-ray, CT and MRI (magnetic resonance).

It is also the first hospital to have a self-service payment platform in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and pioneered the use of electronic registration tickets and outpatient guidance notes.

The hospital has cooperated with medical insurance agencies in other regions to provide settlements for interprovincial medical expenses.
