Enjoy a pleasant drive up north to escape the summer heat

There's nothing better on a lazy summer day than just jumping in the car, rolling down the windows and letting the wind caress your hair as you hit the open road and Inner Mongolia provides the perfect setting.

The region is holding a month-long driving festival, which allows participants to enjoy the unique northern landscape -- prairies, deserts, wetlands -- and folk customs at the same time along a 5,000 km drive. Baotou is on the west section of the route.

They are also able to enjoy taste of the herdsman's life, and spend some time at a campfire party with other drivers.

The region is also working on a winter driving route designed to complement the summer route, to make Inner Mongolia the ideal choice for a driving adventure.
