Sanjiangkou commercial district

Located in the Haishu district of Ningbo, Sanjiangkou is one of the city's busiest and oldest commercial districts.

The Sanjiangkou Area, the junction area of the three rivers: the Yuyao River, the Fenghua River and the Yongjiang River, is the center of the Ningbo City. For its superior geological and facile transportation conditions, it grew into the heart of Ningbo a long time ago. Back in 821 of the Tang Dynasty, Governor Han Cha of Mingzhou (Ningbo), at the approval of Imperial Government, had the prefecture government relocated to this area. In this area, city walls and moats were then constructed and government offices established which marked the initial shaping of Ningbo City. Therefore, the Sanjiangkou Area can be said to be the birthplace of this historical city.

With the industrious work by generations of the Ningbo people, Sanjiangkou Area has become a hub of banking, commerce, foreign trade and cultural exchanges, and a bustling central business district as well.

Taking Tianyi Square and Heyi Avenue as its center, Sanjiangkou is home to many time-honored chain department stores such as Intime Department Store, New World Department Store, New Hualian Mansion and Oriental Mall.

The commercial streets and blocks in the district, such as the commercial pedestrian street of Chenghuang Temple, comprehensive block of Moon Lake Garden and the Old Bund area where most European-style buildings stand are also worth visiting

There are also large supermarkets including Auchan and Carrefour in Sanjiangkou, making it a comprehensive complex for entertainment, shopping, and living.
