Located in the middle section of the Linjiang River, the Gulong River begins its journey in Gulong village, Xiangbei township, and flows southward to Dragon Dune Isle, covering a total distance of 10 kilometers. In ancient times, it was called Siwu Stream.

In the mountains behind Gulong village lies Gulong Cave, with an entrance seven meters wide and five meters high and a cluster of stalactites which bear a striking resemblance to an old banyan tree. There are several chambers in the cave and a natural skylight. The whole cave is several thousand meters long and home to many wonderful sights.

Drifting down the river in a bamboo raft, you will see such scenic spots as Huangguan Hill, Yima Column, Longnv Cave, Yuanyang Cave and Liumei Cave.

Clear spring water slowly flows year-round from Longnv Cave, which has an entrance 15 meters high and 20 meters wide. The mouth of the spring can be found just 10 meters into the cave.

During the winter, the spring is a source of warmth for local villagers, who come to bathe in its warm spring waters. According to one folk story, a dragon lady dressed in white used to emerge from the cave, giving rise to the legendary Caidiao opera Dragon Lady and Han Peng.
