SCUT International Scholarship for Excellence

1. Scholarship Coverage

South China University of Technology (SCUT) offers the International Scholarship for Excellence to outstanding students who will matriculate into degree programs as full-time students. Selected students will receive a full or partial exemption from tuition and registration fees for the normal duration of the degree. The level of benefits depends upon the applicant’s academic excellence in previous academic achievements.

2. Programs

Except School of Medicine, all the programs are available for the applicants.

3. Eligibility

Applicants must be the citizen of a country other than the People’s Republic of China, be in good health,

a. Applicants applying for a Bachelor’s degree must have high school diploma.

b. Applicants applying for a Master’s degree must have a Bachelor’s degree.

c. Applicants applying for a Doctorate degree must have a Master’s degree.

4. Application Time

March 1st - June 30th(for undergraduate students)

March 1st - June 15th(for postgraduate students)

5. Application Procedure

Login the online application of SCUT at  http://www.scut.edu.cn/apply, filling in the application form online and uploading the following documents.

6. Application Documents

(1) A copy of passport

(2) Highest diploma (original copy and notarized photocopy).

(3) Relevant notarized transcripts

(4) A study or research plan(Chinese or English, no less than 500 words).

(5) Two reference letters in Chinese or English from professors or associate professors (for postgraduate students).

(6) An pre-acceptance letter of supervisor issued by SCUT professors or associate professors (for postgraduate students)

(7) The applicants of PhD have to submit Abstract(s) of Graduation Thesis(es) or Published Paper(s)

(8) One cassette records for those applying for music programs. 2 color photographs of each: sketches, color painting, other works for those applying to fine arts programs.

(9) Foreigner Physical Examination Form.

(10) Language Certificate

*Language requirements for Chinese-Medium Programs:

-New HSK Band 4 with scores above 180 for Science or Engineering studies;

-New HSK Band 5 with scores above 180 for Liberal Arts, Economics, or Management Studies.

*Language requirements for English-Medium Programs (only for non-English speaking countries):

-TOEFL IBT 68 or above;-IELTS 5.5 or above. (For undergraduate students)

-TOEFL IBT 80 or above;-IELTS 6.0 or above. (For postgraduate students)

*Applications from English speaking countries:

A letter of English as medium of instruction issued by graduated universities or education institutes.

Note:

*All documents mentioned should be in either Chinese or English.

*Translations of certificate and transcripts must be notarized.

*All documents must be true and legal.
