Dangkou Ancient Town is located in Erhu Town of Southeast Wuxi, adjacent to Yue Noble Tombs at Hongshan Mountain and Taibo Tomb in the west, and borders Suzhou and Changshu in the east. It was named Dingshe in ancient times and said to be the hometown of Ding Lan, a dutiful son in East Han Dynasty. Dangkou is named after Ezhun Dangkou. It is a classical water town in the southern part of the Yangtze River.

Buildings with white walls and black tiles stand along the river course and street strings of red lanterns hang under roofs. Dangkou has preserved many historic relics, including four of (13) provincial cultural relics protection units, one municipal cultural relics protection unit, one control and protection unit and 50 historical buildings. It is ranked as a national 4A scenic spot.
