Named as a“hometown of great men”and a“capital of happiness”, Changsha is a famous Chinese city with excellent historical and cultural tourism resources.

The aforementioned credentials have allowed Changsha to be successively named as "China's happiest city" and featured in the "Top ten Chinese ecological cities for leisurely living" list. Forbes magazine once reported Changsha as "China's most suitable city for the development of tourism".

Changsha's long history has left the city with many precious cultural heritage sites. The most famous of them are the Yuelu Academy, Mawangdui Han Tombs, Tianxin Pavilion Park. Additionally, the famous Changsha attractions such as the Yuelu Mountain Scenic Zone and Orange Island Park are also must-see destinations.

Over the first ten months of 2016, the city welcomed 104.374 million tourists and achieved a tourism revenue of 132.272 billion yuan($20.1 billion) , up by 5.1 percent and 11.14 percent respectively on the year-on-year basis..

In the meantime, Changsha is promoting the constructions and operations of Tanheli National Archeology Heritage Park, Tongguan Kiln and galleries, intangible cultural heritage museums and other cultural projects to boost cultural consumption.
