Inner Mongolia Bayannuur Economic and Technological Development Zone

Located in the east of Linhe district in Bayannuur, the Inner Mongolia Bayannuur Economic and Technological Development Zone (内蒙古巴彦淖尔经济技术开发区) covers 47 square kilometers. It was founded in 1992, and was approved as a national-level economic and technological zone by the State Council in 2012.

The development zone has won many honors, such as an industrial transfer demonstration zone, an industrial circular economy pilot demonstration zone, and a regional agricultural and animal husbandry industrialization demonstration zone.

More than 2 billion yuan ($302.4 million) has been invested in the zone. As a result, around 20 sq km of the zone have been linked by roads and supplied with water, natural gas, electric power, and communication and drainage facilities. There are two 220-kilovolt transformer substations, three 110-kV transformer substations and one 35-kV switching station in the zone. 

Besides, the zone has two water supply plants and one sewage treatment plant. The zone is well equipped with water, electricity, gas and other pipe networks, with green areas reaching 20.8 percent. In addition, it has constructed a living service area, with 300,000 square meters of housing. 

So far, the zone has 168 enterprises, with 53 enterprises above the designated size (annual revenue of at least 20 million yuan). In 2014, the zone achieved a total industrial output value of 29.2 billion yuan and an industrial added value of 8.2 billion yuan, with sales revenue of 27.5 billion yuan. It made a fixed assets investment of 5.4 billion yuan and achieved tax revenue of 440 million yuan. The comprehensive economic strength of the development zone has continued to increase until it has become a key development zone n the autonomous region worth over ten billion yuan.

The zone has formed six industrial clusters dominated by green agricultural and livestock products processing, bio-pharmaceuticals, metallurgy and equipment manufacturing, energy and electricity, new chemical engineering and new building materials.
