In recent years, Yangzhou has accelerated the construction of an integrated public transportation network of highways, railways, flights, and ships. The city's spatial layout has been optimized, and gradually become the regional logistics center for Jiangsu's middle part and surrounding areas. 

In 2016, the city's total social logistics value was 1.33 trillion yuan ($201 bllion), achieving an industrial added value of 28.6 billion yuan. 

Yangzhou's port cargo throughput reached 121.6 million metric tons in 2016. It has 353 production quay berths, with a designed throughput capacity totaling 127.12 million tons and the largest berthing capacity of 100,000 tons. Among them, 268 are inland-river ports, and the other 85 are along the Yangtze River. 

The 183 crisscrossing waterways in Yangzhou cover a total distance of 2,297 kilometers, of which, 507 km are graded waterways. 

In the next step, the city aims to build a port with annual cargo capacity reaching over 100 million tons and handling over a million standard containers (TEU). 

We will increase the infrastructure construction in quay berths, collection and distribution system, and integrated cargo-clearance system, facilitate port industries, and enhance the introduction and fostering of specialized logistics enterprises in automobile, metallurgical, petrochemical, grain, agricultural product, cold chain, medicine, and emergency responding.

Regional transportation advantages- The air routes of Yangzhou-Taizhou Airport keeps increasing, expressway and railway projects are under steady progress, along with the 12.5-meter-deep navigation channel at the lower reaches of Yangtze River proceeding orderly. 

Carrier platform- The city has a batch of comprehensive and specialized logistics parks, including a port logistics park, a Yangtze River petrochemical logistics center, and tailored automobile and commercial logistics areas.

Integrated cost advantages- The average costs of TEU cargos entering and leaving Yangzhou Port are lower than surrounding ports.
