2. Convenient Transportation

Highway: Yangzhou is the first city in Jiangsu province to achieve the goal of having all its counties equipped highway access and with highways surrounding the city. Two traffic arteries– the Beijing-Shanghai Expressway and Shanghai-Shaanxi Expressway– meet here; Runyang Yangtze River Highway Bridge provides Yangzhou with an easy access to southern Jiangsu and a highway fully-covering network initially takes shape. It takes one-hour drive from Yangzhou to Nanjing by expressway, three hours to Shanghai and eight hours to Beijing, and has direct highway passenger transport to Nanjing South Railway Station.

Railway: Yangzhou has many golden railway lines heading for Beijing, Guangzhou, Xi'an, Chengdu, Kunming, Wuhan, Shenzhen, Chongqing, Shijiazhuang and other cities, reaching out to the whole nation with convenient passenger and freight transport. It takes four hours to reach the capital Beijing by high-speed train. Nanjing-Qidong Railway double track and electrification project has been fully completed and the multiple unit train was put into use in May 2016; Lianyungang-Huaian-Yangzhou-Zhenjiang High-speed Railway is under rapid construction and after its completion, it will bring Yangzhou into the nation's high-speed railway network. In the meantime, the North Yangtze Riverside High-speed Railway, Nanjing-Yangzhou Intercity Railway and Yangzhou-Maanshan Intercity Railway are moving forward rapidly.

Flights: Yangzhou-Taizhou International Airport is located in Jiangdu district with flights available to cities such as Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Xi'an, Chengdu, Kunming, Sanya, Xiamen, Tianjin, Guilin, Guiyang, Lanzhou, Harbin, and Luoyang. It is approved by the State Council after passing the opening acceptance as a first class domestic airport reaching out to Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Thailand and other international (regional) airlines in 2015. The airport was upgraded to an international airport and entered the ranks of million-level medium airports in 2016.

Water transportation: Yangzhou boasts of a national first-level port opening to the outside world, connecting the two "golden waterways"– the Yangtze River and the Grand Canal. At the moment, there are 26 operating berths for ships in the tonnage over ten thousand, basically forming a port system consisting of Yangzhou Port Area, Jiangdu Port Area and Yizheng Port Area, characterized with "one port with three port areas" and highlighting the advantage of river-sea transportation. Yangzhou Port  successfully set up a cooperation relationship with COSCO Shipping Ports Ltd in 2004, marking the city's integration into the world ocean transportation system. In addition, it will be a part of Jiangsu port group.
