Shenyang Acrobatic Troupe

The Shenyang Acrobatic Troupe was founded on September1, 1951.

Programs created by the Troupe include Lion Dance, Comic Act of Balancing on A Plank, Dunhuang Butterflies, Carrying Sedan, Morning Drill of Shaolin Monks, Jumping on the Pole and Fantasy of Heaven. The troupe has also won many international and national prizes. Its programs Kicking Bowls, Pogoda of Bowls, Jumping on the Pole and Morning Drill of Shaolin Monks won gold prizes at the Festival Mondial du Cirque de L'avenir. Its Jumping on the Pole won twice the silver clown award at the Monte Carlo International Circus Festival. Pagoda of Bowls and Comic Act of Balancing on A Plank won the first and grand prizes at the Cuban International Acrobatic Festival. Its Lion Dance won the silver prize at the China Wuqiao International Acrobatic Festival. Pagoda of Bowls and Rubber Band won the gold and silver awards of the National New Seeding Cup Acrobatic Contest respectively. Carrying Sedan won the silver crane prize at the China Wuhan Acrobatic Contest. Jumping on the Pole, Morning Drill of Shaolin Monks and Carrying Sedan won the gold lion awards at the National Acrobatic Contest. Lion Dance, Comic Act of Balancing on A Plank and Flying Trapeze won the silver lion awards at the National Acrobatic Contest.

The troupe toured the US and was received by President Nixon and his wife at the White House in 1972 prior to the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. It has also visited over 60 countries and regions all over the world enjoying high reputation as well as commercial success.

The troupe has trained many talented acrobats, among them are Cai Shaowu, Bai Xiaoying, Han Ming and Zhu Anbao.
