Acrobatic Troupe of Gansu Province

The Acrobatic Troupe of Gansu Province was founded in May 1960. Since its founding, the Troupe has created and staged over 100 excellent programs. Among them are Exotic Flowers of China, Art Presented in Palace, Flying Goddess, Rolling Lamps, Juggling Hoops, Pangu Drum and Balancing Jars on Head. Its Rolling Lamps won the silver clown award at the international acrobatic contest in Poland in 1996. Eight of its programs including Exotic Flowers of China and Pangu Drum own prizes at various national contests.

The Troupe has toured over a dozen countries including Turkey, Egypt, Iran, Germany, New Zealand, Japan, Congo, Benin, Cameroon, Cape Verde and Iraq, as well as Hong Kong region. Artists of the troupe are reputed for their exquisite skills, enthusiasm, discipline and virtue in performance. They were highly praised by the Ministry of Culture and the provincial government for their tour of 7 countries in Africa and Middle East in 1996.

Major acrobats of the Troupe include Jiang Xiaoyu, Li Dongbao, Zhang Xueyi, Wu Rong, Xu Rui, Xu Zhifeng, Xu Aihong and Shao Guizhen.
