Runners race up Canton Tower for charity

Around 150 runners scaled Guangzhou's iconic Canton Tower on June 24 to raise money for charity.

Participants climbed up 1,096 stairs, from the 33rd to the 67th floor of the famous tower, to complete the race.

It wasn't just the beautiful views that kept them going: For every step they climbed, 6.3 yuan ($0.92) was donated to a charity helping people in poverty.

All the runners managed to complete the "vertical marathon", meaning that the event raised more than 1 million yuan.
