Leizhou holds second poetry awards

The second poetry award ceremony for Zurong village's Zhongzhen Poetry Club was held in the city of Leizhou, Zhanjiang on May 28, attracting entries from poets, bards, and performers from across the country.

The first poetry award ceremony was held in 2016, where 2,400 poems were submitted. This year's event received more than 8,400 poems from scholars, teachers, workers and farmers.

The event was established in 2002 to help promote appreciation for culture and the arts throughout Hongdong county in Shanxi province.

After three rounds of review and recital, just seven remarkable works took home the final awards. The award-winning poems included Veteran, Written in Crane Releasing Pavilion by Wang Xinghan and Thoughts on Guarding the Border Town on Spring Festival by Jiang Benzheng.

The event also received entries from overseas Chinese and foreigners.
