Yizhou looks to grow peppers

Longtou township handed out almost 70,000 peppers shoots free of charge to 178 families recently, in a bid to spice up local agriculture.

Longtou, located west of the city of Yizhou in Hechi, is a remote and mountainous township. Taking into account terrain and climate, the government decided that the area is best suited to growing peppers.

The government has also established cooperatives to cover planting, growing, marketing and sales, so that farmers receive better support.
