Wuxi’s model workers awarded

Wuxi’s outstanding employees were commended at a ceremony held in Xinwu district on April 28, just in time for International Workers’ Day.

Presided over by Xia Tongjun, a top official of Xinwu district, the meeting announced the winners of the national, provincial and municipal-level model worker awards. A total of 28 Outstanding Individuals from 19 companies including Sony Digital Products (Wuxi) were awarded.

A further 200 employees were announced as Outstanding Employees, with 60 expats winning Outstanding Foreign Employee awards.

Four representatives of the winners – Liu Bing, Sun Yunhua, Chao Huaxiang and Owen Fishwick – delivered speeches and told stories of their work and life in Wuxi at the meeting.

Owen Fishwick, the representative of the winners of the Outstanding Foreign Employee Award, arrived in China from the UK three years ago and is an editor at China Daily (Wuxi).

Fishwick expressed his gratitude for the award and said that he enjoyed living and working in Wuxi.

Liu Bing from Wuxi China Resources Semico Co won the national-level award for Outstanding Female Worker. She started her career as a workshop worker, climbing up the ladder to become one of the top integrated circuit panel designers in the company with the expertise and spirit of a craftsman embedded in her mind.

Liu expressed her gratitude for the award and vowed to continue to focus on integrated circuit panel design and to promote the spirit of craftsmanship.

Sun Yunhua, a skilled worker at Wuxi Little Swan Co, is a migrant worker who has settled in Wuxi. The award recognized his diligence and showed how the city values its migrant workers.

Chao Huaxiang, a staff member at Fujitsu Ten Electronics Co (Wuxi), was previously a workshop worker. After years’ of working at the company she has risen to become a training lecturer. Chao introduced a training system for senior staff members at the company which included on-going training sessions for the senior staff members.
