Suzhou Vocational University

Suzhou Vocational University is a local comprehensive university, which gives priorities to disciplines of engineering and technology, with coordinative development of other subjects. The university is proud of its training of highly qualified practical talents. The university covers a total area of about 84 hectares, with teaching buildings and dormitory blocks taking up 440, 000 square meters. The total value of its equipment available for teaching and scientific research amounts to 98.6 million yuan. Its library covers 30,000 square meters, with a collection of 1,272, 300 paper books. There are 15,000 full-time students, and 1,022 faculty members in the university.

In order to optimize the local resources of higher education, four colleges, namely the former Suzhou Vocational University, Suzhou Education College, Suzhou Broadcasting and Television University and Suzhou Professional College of Science and Technology were integrated into the present Suzhou Vocational University in 2005 under the leadership of Suzhou Municipal Government.
