Located on the northern shore of the Qiongzhou Strait, the Dahan Sandun Tourist Resort in Xuwen County faces the city of Haikou across the sea. Based on the Sandun Port, the site is the starting point of the well-known ancient Maritime Silk Road during the Han Dynasty (206 BC – 220 AD).

The Dahan Sandun Tourist Resort is composed of the bay, the National Mangrove Reserve, the wetland lakes, the cultural relic of the port in the Han Dynasty, three small islands and five primitive fishing villages. This is the most fascinating and rare seaside scenery.

The Dahan Sandun Tourist Resort

In Dahan Sandun, the glorious port of the Maritime Silk Road was built more than 2,000 years ago during the Han Dynasty is still awe-inspiring. The oldest lighthouse in China and the alter for offering sacrifices to the sea still stand high, telling their glorious past. The mangrove forests sway like green waves and the fresh water lake is so poetic.

The stone lotuses are still in blossom after thousands of years. Big stones covered with oysters scattered here and there along the beach, forming an impressive "oyster flower" beach. During autumn and winter months, when the sun goes down, you can see the rosy clouds glowing and the birds migrating.

Taking a walk along the bank, you will feel as if time has gone back to the distant Han Dynasty. The island with one singletree and the Sandun Island known as "China's Birds' Nest on the Sea" will make you awe at the extremely fine craftsmanship of nature.

The Dahan Sandun will be built into the "Dahan Maritime Silk Road Starting Point • International Holiday Resort" featuring the Maritime Silk Road culture and tourism.
