Covering an area of 3.59 square kilometers in Shanghai Pudong International Airport, the comprehensive free trade zone features the most favorable preferential policies and a pioneering land for innovative airport services.

Pudong Airport Free Trade Zone was founded on July 3, 2009 upon approval of the State Council as a part of the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone (FTZ) Bonded Area, which also includes Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone, Waigaoqiao Free Trade Logistics Park, Yangshan Free Trade Port Area.

It was officially established on November 18 of the same year.

Under the supervision of customs agencies, the bonded zone has the most favorable preferential policies and all kinds of airport services. It's the first of its type to own an exhibition hall for lease financing and a service platform integrating administration, service and finance.

The bonded zone also houses a distribution center for high value-added air cargo such as electronic components, industrial parts, medical devices and luxury commodities.

Government departments, including customs, inspection, quarantine, commerce and taxation, all have opened offices in the zone.
