A bite of Hangzhou

The upcoming G20 has turned all eyes on Zhejiang's cuisine, but the provincial government has been quietly celebrating its famous dishes for years in a Beijing restaurant, Mike Peters reports.

Zhi Weiguan Restaurant

Its delicious food and wonderful aroma make this time-honored restaurant a popular and enjoyable place, especially in view of its location alongside beautiful West Lake.

Huazhongcheng Tianwaitian Hotel

This hotel was established in 1910, when it was known as the HangzhouTianwaitian Restaurant, and was rebuilt and relocated to its current location, in 2007.

Shan Waishan Restaurant

This restaurant, in the Hangzhou Botanic Garden alongside beautiful West Lake, specializes in organic food with organic 1000-Island Lake fish, and is famous for its Emperor of Eight Treasures Fish Head, which has won it a reputation for "Hangzhou’s No.1 restaurant".

Taizilou Restaurant

The Taizilou restaurant is just a stone's throw from beautiful West Lake and caters to foreign visitors. It has cooperated with the famous time-honored Bianyifang Roast Duck brand to provide authentic Peking duck in Hangzhou.

Lou Wailou Restaurant

This restaurant, perched alongside beautiful West Lake, was established during the Qing dynasty (1848) and, in its 150-year history, has followed a principle of a “restaurant brand of good food, and booming food culture”.

Zhang Shengji Restaurant

This reastauratn, established in 1988, has received various honors, including "Famous Hangzhou Trademark", "Famous Hangzhou Restaurant" and "Celebrated Chinese Restaurant".

Emperor Qianlong Boat

This restaurant is the largest boat-based restaurant on the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal and has an interior that was inspired by Ming and Qing styles with carved beams and pillars painted in gold and other colors.

Hangzhou Style Chicken Roll

The name of Hangzhou-Style Chicken Roll is a little tricky, as it is not chicken roll at all.
