Shen Changyu

Shen Changyu, ethnic Han, was born in June 1963, native of Nanyang, Henan province, member of the Communist Party of China. He is the academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, the winner of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, and the chief scientist of the 973 Program.

He received a doctoral degree of the Dalian University of Technology in 1990 and started to work in August of the same year. Since 1993, he has been a professor and the State Council expert for special allowance. He was conferred the title of the national young and middle-aged expert with outstanding contributions in 1994 and in 1996, was elected as PhD supervisor and listed in the first batch of the national Talents Project.  He was appointed as the vice president of Zhengzhou University of Technology in February 1997 and worked as the executive vice present of Zhengzhou University in July 2000 as well as the president of Zhengzhou University in February 2003. He was successfully elected as the academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2009 and served as the president of the Dalian University of Technology in August 2012. He assumed office as Commissioner and Secretary of the State Intellectual Property Office of the People's Republic of China.
