Baogang Group is to strengthen its ties with the China Railway Academy Co -- working together on a number of projects -- in the wake of a strategic cooperation framework agreement signed by both parties on Nov 13, according to the Baotou Evening News.

The academy, also known as CRAC, is the only multi-disciplinary comprehensive research institution of China Railway.

It is a large-scale science and technology operation that integrates technology innovation, technical services, testing and certification and personnel training, among other things.

Established in 1954 and based in Baotou, in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, Baogang Group is the largest steel company based in the region.

It is one of the oldest iron and steel manufacturers in China and has a major plant located in Baotou. It is also the country’s biggest scientific research and production center for rare earth metals.

In recent years, Baogang Group has been strengthening its ties with neighboring countries and increasing exports to countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.

Steel rail production is one of Baogang’s main businesses. In order to meet the needs of railway development, the company has been making efforts in promoting the development of rare earth rails.
