The Bund has been a symbol of Shanghai's development and prosperity for more than 100 years. It is a miniature of modern China's development in politics, economic growth and social culture, and a symbolic area in modern China where humanity meets culture.

The historical and cultural Bund in the city’s central district was the site of Shanghai’s earliest development, and its eye-catching spots and densely-grouped exquisite historical buildings have earned it a world-class reputation.

It consists of 43 residential blocks with a total land area of 100.8 hectares and includes Huangpu and Hongkou districts.

The Bund has many well-known classic buildings in a variety of styles including Baroque, Gothic, and Ancient Greek; hence it is also called "an exhibition of world architecture".

Within the Bund historical area, there are four bridges across the Suzhou River and three of them – the Waibaidu Bridge, or the Garden Bridge of Shanghai, the Sichuan Road Bridge and the Zhapu Road Bridge - are listed as excellent historical buildings, the only bridges in central Shanghai with that distinction.

Main attractions:
Garden Bridge of Shanghai, Public Park, Sassoon House, Broadway Mansions
