Wuxi promotes application of electronic business licenses

Wuxi in East China's Jiangsu province has been promoting the application of electronic business licenses since last year. More and more affairs are able to be managed with electronic business licenses instead of paper ones.

According to the related government departments, enterprises can deal with all the administrative procedures and other affairs with electronic business licenses since October.

The electronic business license is a legal digital certificate which stores the company's registration details. It has the same legal effect as a paper license and is equipped with a smart chip, allowing it to be read by compatible devices. The licenses can provide easier and faster service for companies.

Authorities are now working to develop applications which facilitate information sharing between government departments and increase services for businesses. The applications are expected to be ready at the end of September.

Company representatives can then take their electronic identification cards to deal with government department affairs rather than lugging around their paper licenses.

These changes will also be applied in Jiangyin and Yixing, meaning Wuxi will become the first city in Jiangsu province to implement electronic business licenses in all regions and departments.
