Quzhou-based Shanding Agricultural Development Co has recently become a supplier of Shanghai Hema Network Technology Co, a retail platform of Alibaba Group, making it the first Hema supplier in Zhejiang.

As a new type of retail platform driven by data technology, Hema earns its name for the harsh requirements it has for suppliers. It is the high quality water of Quzhou and pollution-free farm products produced by Shanding that attracted the company.

According to Yao Jianzhong, vice-general manager of Hema, they have included special Quzhou produce, such as wild bamboo shoots, wild rice shoots, steamed sponge cakes, agrocybe cylindracea and towel gourds, into Hema's catalogue.

Yao said that clients are quite satisfied with the Quzhou produce.

In just few months, 15,000 kilograms of grapefruits, 25,000 kilograms of mandarin oranges, and 35,000 kilograms of wild rice shoots have been sold by Hema.

Yao said that the target output of Hema this year is 30 million yuan ($4.36 million). Right now, they are searching for more suppliers to prepare for the expansion of their output to 150 million yuan next year.

The Shanding Agricultural Development Co has a 2,000-mu (133.33 hectares) orchard planting high quality fruiters and is now dedicated to promoting local farm products to more places via Hema.
