A delegation from the government of Qidong, a county-level city in Nantong, eastern China's Jiangsu province, visited the United States and Japan to negotiate trade cooperation from July 2 to 9.

The official delegation was led by Wang Xiaobin, Party secretary of the county-level city, and She Dehua, vice-mayor of Qidong.

During their stay in the two countries, the trade delegation staged road shows to promote the favorable investment environment in the city, visited some of the local companies that have trade cooperation with Qidong firms, and reached preliminary investment agreements with some of them.

In the United States, the Qidong representatives visited the BayHelix Group, the Chinese Bioscience Association (CBA), the Springbank Airport Business and Pilots Association (SABPA), and the US-based Jiangsu General Chamber of Commerce.

Three road shows were staged to help foreign companies better understand the favorable investment policies in the county-level city.

Sun Lin, the head of the North California division of the BayHelix Group, said that Qidong is adjacent to Shanghai and is a perfect place for developing projects in heath industry.

We will team up with other commerce champers to strengthen trade cooperation with Qidong, said Cai Chenghua, president of the US-based Jiangsu General Chamber of Commerce, during the meeting.

When the trade delegation arrived in Tokyo, Japan, they took part in the 2019 China Qidong Economic and Trade Cooperation Conference.

Nearly 100 representatives from Japanese bank and commerce industries attended the event.

Wang delivered a lecture at the beginning of the conference, in which he outlined the general conditions of Qidong and the investment policies in the city.

Hiroyuki Kobayashi, general manager of the Hitachi Metals San Huan Magnetic Materials (Nantong) Co Ltd, shared with the attendees on services provided by the government of Qidong for Japanese companies that choose to invest in the city.

After the conference, Wang led the trade delegation to the headquarters of Hitachi Metals. He vowed to support the development of the Qidong division of Hitachi Metals, and expressed his hope that Hitachi Metals would help promote the Qidong profile.
