Dalian students make an old man’s dream come true

Students from the Dalian Institute of Science and Technology went to great lengths to make an elderly man's dream come true in Lushunkou in Dalian, a city in northeastern Liaoning province, on June 19.

The senior citizen, who is a cherry farmer in Lushunkou, has always had a wish to go to Tian'anmen Square in Beijing to admire the flag-raising ceremony. However, because of his advanced years and limited mobility, he found it difficult to realize his dream.

Students from Dalian Institute of Science and Technology used thousands of kilograms of cherries to make a national flag – with red cherries as the background red and yellow cherries for the flag's stars -- for the old man. They also invited a man who formerly served in the Tian'anmen National Flag Guard to visit and have a talk with the senior citizen.
