Quzhou shines in the eyes of high-caliber talent

Quzhou in eastern Zhejiang province has attracted 85 doctoral students to come and finish their advanced qualifications in the last two years -- and many speak with glowing affection of the city.

Ma Binni, a post-90s young woman who graduated from the renowned Hohai University in Jiangsu province last year, is the youngest doctoral talent Quzhou has hosted to date and she now gives lessons on environmental science at Quzhou University.

The young teacher said that it has a beautiful landscape and good working environment that made her give up other invitations from Guangdong province, Nanchang and Xi'an cities.

She believes that many others like her are drawn by the city's pleasant natural environment.

Quzhou's determination and ambition for better development, as well as its wish to attract the best brains, were attractive traits to Qu Hongjuan, now a head engineer at the Quzhou ecological environmental bureau, who graduated from Peking University.

After witnessing the city's huge advances in economic and social development, Qu expects a promising future in Quzhou.

Qu's positive sentiments are echoed elsewhere.

"I think Quzhou boasts huge potential in developing its modern agriculture industry and I may make my own contribution to it," said Zhang Yong, who works for the local bureau of agriculture and rural affairs.

For Zhao Tianchen, Quzhou has the kind of disposition to soothe a restless spirit.

Zhao said that the city has profound cultural history and local residents are so friendly that he usually mistakes the city for his own home.

Moving forward, he said he will not only do his own job well as a teacher at Quzhou University, but also offer technical support on advanced engineering to Quzhou businesses.
