Daishan county in Zhoushan, an island city in East China's Zhejiang province, now has an intelligent passenger center featuring facial recognition supported ticket checking, an unmanned store and a complete set of supporting facilities.

The Xiushan Passenger Transport Center entered a trial run on June 10. The center includes a 4,327-square-meter ferry terminal and a 30,000-square-meter parking lot.

After filling in their personal information the first time they buy a ticket, passengers need only scan their faces to fulfill the ticket checking procedures instead of showing ID cards the next time.

Other services such as online ticket booking and the sharing of information about ships and passenger flow on WeChat are also available.

The unmanned store is equipped with five shelves and four refrigerated cabinets. Customers can register on the store’s official WeChat account and enter by scanning the QR code given by the account. An order will be automatically generated after they have selected the goods and payment will be fulfilled on their WeChat Pay.

Customers must first enter the store by scanning a QR code, but may enter by scanning their face on repeat visits.
