A press conference held by the Ministry of Commerce, Mongolian authorities, and the government of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region in Beijing announced that the 3rd China-Mongolia Expo will be held in Hohhot and Ulaanqab, cities in Inner Mongolia, from Sept 6 to 10. About 6,000 domestic and foreign guests and exhibitors are expected to attend the expo.

According to the press conference, the expo's theme is "Build the China-Mongolia-Russia economic corridor, boost regional cooperation in Northeast Asia". The event will consist of an opening ceremony, a regional cooperation summit forum, exhibitions, a promotional conference on investment and trade, other conferences and forums, and cultural exchange activities.

In recent years, political trust and economic and trade cooperation between China and Mongolia have been growing stronger. In the first four months of this year, bilateral trade between the two countries reached a value of 2.56 billion yuan ($371 billion), an increase of 14.5 percent over the same period last year.

As of April 2019, China had invested a total of 4.8 billion US dollars in Mongolia, accounting for around 30 percent of total foreign investment in the country. China is Mongolia's second largest source of foreign investment.

As an important part of Sino-Mongolian cooperation, Inner Mongolia has been playing an increasingly large role in the construction of the China-Mongolia-Russia economic corridor in recent years. The biennial China-Mongolia Expo has become a new platform for promoting trade, investment, and tourism cooperation between China, Mongolia, and Northeast Asia.
