Jiangshan, a county-level city in Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, was recently listed among the top 100 tourism counties, local media reported.

The city boasts huge potential in tourism development with abundant sightseeing resources and relatively complete infrastructure.

In 2010, Jianglang Mountain in Jiangshan succeeded in applying for the World Natural Heritage Site, the first one in Jiangsu, Zhejiang provinces and Shanghai.

Over the past two years, the city has constructed 128 provincial-level scenic villages, of which 13 have been named as traditional Chinese villages and 62 have been listed as renowned provincial historic villages.

During the same period, the tourism industry in Jiangshan has contributed 10 percent to rural employment rate and the annual disposable income of villagers in its main tourism villages or towns has increased by more than 15 percent.

The list was jointly released by the China Economic Herald, the professional committee of credit information service of China Information Industry Association, and Competitiveness Think Tank.

The list marked the first time that the third-party organization has teased out the competitive tourism counties or cities in China.

Report from the three organizations stated that cities or counties making the list should show outstanding performance in economic development, development potential, and vitality.
