Since the city was established in 1985, Quzhou has witnessed tremendous economic improvement.
In 2018, the city’s GDP reached 147 billion yuan ($21 billion), an increase of 7.2 percent year-on-year. The general public budget revenue was 12.8 billion yuan. The fixed assets investment gained a year-on-year increase of 4.3 percent. Total import and export volume was worth 35.0 billion yuan.
In August 2018, the city ranked fourth among 22 cities on the first list of China’s business environment appraisal, while the top three cities were Beijing, Xiamen and Shanghai.
With a focus on digital and smart industries, the city has attracted many major firms in the internet industry, including Alibaba, ZTE, NETEASE and DAS-security. It will maintain its growth momentum through innovation.
Quzhou city governs two districts – Kecheng and Qujiang, three counties – Longyou, Changshan and Kaihua, and one county-level city – Jiangshan.
