Economy

Jilin province is the cradle of China's grains and industry. Changchun, capital of the province, is famous for its auto manufacturing, film producing and education all around the country. Jilin is located in the middle of Northeast Asia, surrounded with countries namely, the Republic of Korea, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Japan, Mongolia and Russia, which makes it a significant area for international trading within the region.

GDP in Jilin province in 2018 was 1.6 trillion yuan ($236.03 billion), with a year-on-year growth of 4.5 percent. The added value of primary industry increased by 2 percent; the secondary industry rose by 4 percent and the tertiary industry grew by 5.5 percent than that of 2017. The per capita GDP of 2018 reached 55,474 yuan.

Administration divisions

Jilin province governs eight cities -- Changchun, Jilin, Siping, Songyuan, Baicheng, Liaoyuan, Tonghua, Baishan -- and one prefecture, Yanbian Korea autonomous prefecture.
