Quzhou county praised for advanced digital agriculture

Jiangshan, a county-level city in Quzhou, Zhejiang province was named the county of advanced digital agriculture and rural areas in 2018 by China's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs on April 20.

Quzhou county has promoted the application of internet of things, big data, artificial intelligence and other information technologies in the development of its agriculture and rural areas in recent years.

In 2018, Jiangshan spent 24.2 million yuan ($3.6 million) on the digitalization of agriculture and rural areas.

A group of new-type agricultural businesses have begun applying information technology to their daily production, marketing and management through the use of drones and smart greenhouses.

For example, the Jiangshan Xingcai Agricultural Science & Technology Co plans to invest 500 million yuan in developing an intelligent system for agricultural production and studying soilless culture of fruits and vegetables. The Wuchuang Family Farm invested 1.1 million yuan in greenhouse cultivation and smart management.

Villagers in all 292 of Jiangshan's villages enjoy convenient e-commerce services and training in their own villages.

In 2018, Jiangshan villagers sold 660 million yuan worth of agricultural products via online platforms.
