A seminar exploring the application of an intelligent tourism system in Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province was held in the city on April 10.

The city is constructing a digital tourism system to make it more convenient for tourists.

The system is built in two phases.

The first phase is to collect data, including tourist flow, safety stats and traffic conditions, in a bid to provide a scientific foundation for related management departments.

"For example, when a scenic spot has too many tourists, the system will issue a red alert and the attraction's management department will be prompted to evacuate the tourists," said a developer of the system at the seminar.

In addition, the information is also updated on the WeChat official account of Quzhou Tourism, making it more convenient for visitors to adjust their itinerary.

The first phase of the project has collected more than 49 million pieces of data since it began operating three months ago, including over 160 scenic spots, 90 countryside attractions, 84 boutique homestays, 25 starred hotels, and 200 travel agencies.

While the first phase focuses on data collection, the second phase features customized, intelligent and precise services, according to Liu Jianping from Quzhou Culture and Tourism Bureau.

After the launch of the second phase of the digital tourism system, tourists will be able to get a quick overview of Quzhou's scenic spots, delicacies, special local products, hotels, and tourist routes from the WeChat official account.

Based on the collected data from the first phase of the project, the second phase will conduct a precise analysis of the visit trajectory, consumption preference, behavior, and source of tourists.

In the future, tourists in Quzhou will be able to simply input key words, such as two-day tour, and receive a customized recommendation from the system.

The second phase will also offer various other services, including a self-help tour, introduction of scenic spots, facial recognition check-in, and facial recognition book borrowing.
