Spring Festival, the Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on Feb 5 this year. Yantai, a coastal city in East China's Shandong province, is to hold a series of celebration activities for the grand festival. The following are some of the activities.

1.  Former Residence of Qi Jiguang

A lantern show will be on stage in the scenic spot for visitors to enjoy themselves and to celebrate Chinese New Year. Besides the traditional lantern show, the popular light show will help to create an atmosphere of rejoicing and festivity.

Activities such as guessing lantern riddles and drawing a lottery will also be held. Each tourist will receive a free scent bag or a lucky belt to hang in a 400-year-old ginkgo tree for a blessing.

Qi Jiguang (1528-88), a general during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), is a war-time hero known for his resistance against Japanese aggression. His former residence features buildings in the Ming style.
