Boao International Hospital expands overseas ties

A signing ceremony between Boao International Hospital, Italy's University of Turin, and the British Royal Society was held in Boao, Hainan province on Jan 11.

Professor Pier Maria Furlan, dean of the Medical School of the University of Turin, Peter J. Barnes, scholar of the British Royal Society, and a number of local officials and other guests attended the event.

According to the agreement, Boao International Hospital and the University of Turin will engage in comprehensive cooperation, with Boao International Hospital serving as a subsidiary hospital of the University of Turin. The two institutions will carry out cooperation in personnel training, academic exchanges, special technical training and scientific research.

Professor Furlan was appointed honorary president of Boao International Hospital. He will regularly visit the hospital for scientific research, technical guidance, special lectures, academic exchanges and hospital management.

The San Luigi Gonzaga Hospital affiliated with the University of Turin is the largest cancer control center and cancer research institute in Italy. It will cooperate with the International Research Center for Regenerative Medicine and the Cancer Precision Treatment Center of Boao International Hospital, focusing on the treatment of cancer patients, cell therapy with stem cells or immune cells, and the research and promotion of the latest technology in cancer treatment.

Boao International Hospital is located in the Hainan Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone, which was established with approval from the State Council (China's cabinet). It enjoys the support of nine national preferential policies, enabling the simultaneous application of new technology, new equipment and innovative foreign drugs. The hospital has introduced some world-class medical equipment, including imaging and radiotherapy equipment, which can be connected with the University of Turin to ensure proper treatment plans.

The University of Turin (Università degli Studi di Torino, UNITO) is one of 10 universities directly under the Italian Ministry of Education. It has a history of more than 600 years, and consists of 13 colleges and 55 departments.

Boao International Hospital has formed cooperation agreements with a number of well-known medical institutions from around the world, including AMIS (American Minimally Invasive Surgery), Shanghai Mingda Biotechnology Co Ltd and Tokyo ODA Hospital.
