Products from Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province were showcased at the recent China Industry Design Expo in Wuhan, capital of Hubei province.

Companies in the city's Huigu Industry Design Park, Zhejiang province's demonstration base, were invited to bring their designs to the three-day event, a debut for Quzhou designs.

The Quzhou park showcased Grandpa Nankong, Quzhou's city image of a Q-version cartoon image of Confucius released in 2016, and crystal white porcelains, renowned for their thinness, delicate texture and bright white appearance.

Quzhou is considered the dwelling place of Confucius's descendant in South China, and houses Confucius' South Zen Ancestral Temple, one of the only two Confucius ancestral temples in China.

Grandpa Nankong was a particularly popular design with expo-goers for his cute appearance and cultural implications.

Huigu Industry Design Park, located within Zhejiang Zhongguancun Science Park, started operation in Aug 2012 and was identified as a Zhejiang industry design demonstration site later in the same year.

Since 2016, the park has been dedicated to nurturing advanced manufacturing, biological medicine and other high-tech companies.

To date, the Quzhou park has housed 55 high-tech companies with accumulated operation revenue of 276 million yuan ($40 million) and more than 800 patents granted.

The China Industry Design Expo, the only State-level one of its kind in China, welcomed more than 550 exhibitors from home and abroad this year.
