Founded in 2007, the museum covers an area of 54,000 square meters with a structure area of 14,700 square meters, and an exhibition area of 6000 square meters. More than 30,000 pieces of natural collections are stored in the museum, including animals, plants, ancient fossils, human bodies, minerals, rocks and meteorites.

The museum's permanent exhibition consists of seven parts, showcasing the biological diversity and abundant natural resources of the province. Visitors are offered opportunities to take adventures to the world of birds and butterflies etc.

The museum features a mind-blowing number of 4,000 pieces of fossil samples of extinct animals in Northeast China and 7,000 pieces of samples of large rare animals.
