Wuxi looks to attract top talent

The 2018 Wuxi High-level Talent Innovation and Enterprise Meeting was held in Wuxi, Jiangsu province on Aug 13, with more than 600 people in attendance.

The event aimed to create a communication platform between highly-skilled individuals, entrepreneurs, academics and experts involved with the Recruitment Program of Global Experts, a program calling for strategic scientists or leading talents who can make breakthroughs in key technologies or can enhance China’s high-tech industries and emerging disciplines.

The opening ceremony featured speeches delivered by Li Xiaomin, Party secretary of Wuxi and experts from the Recruitment Program of Global Experts, such as Wang Zhonglin, global top nanotechnology scientist and Xie Xiaoliang, academician of the National Academy of Sciences, United States.

The speakers not only spoke about their various research fields, such as genetic sciences and mathematics, but also spoke about innovation and how Wuxi could attract workers with the skills that it needs.

Li Xiaomin urged more skilled workers and entrepreneurs to come to Wuxi and promised maximum support off the local government.

Qian Yingyi spoke highly of the Recruitment Program of Global Experts and said that the program will continue to boost Wuxi's cooperation with experts in different key areas. And it will also provide support to experts for scientific studies and the industrialization of products.

The two-day meeting includes a summit, forums, project signing ceremonies, and meetings themed on "Industry, University and Research".

According to statistics, Wuxi attracted 117,000 skilled workers from a variety of different fields. Workers from abroad are thought to number around 12,000. In addition, the number of experts that are part of the Recruitment Program of Global Experts has now reached 246.
