Shanxi Provincial Cancer Hospital

Shanxi Provincial Cancer Hospital (Shanxi Cancer Research Institute) was established in 1952 and is one of the earliest major cancer hospitals built in China. After more than 60 years of growth, the hospital now offers integrated treatment, prevention, scientific research, teaching, rehabilitation, and hospice services. 

Providing various treatment methods such as surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy,  precision cancer treatment and individualized diagnosis and treatment programs, it is a large, modern specialist cancer hospital with distinctive features, specialties and advantages.  

At present, it is the largest hospital in Shanxi province with the highest number of beds and  inpatients, as well as being one of the busiest of the province's facilities. It is also among the first batch of Grade III Class A hospitals in the country and a national reliable hospital.

The hospital covers an area of 88,000 square meters and has 2,961 employees, including 400 with a professional title, 39 doctors, 421 individuals holding a master's degree, two doctoral advisors, 54 advisors to postgraduate students, four enjoying special allowances from the State Council, four high-level overseas staff from the "Hundred Talents Program" in Shanxi province, four renowned Shanxi doctors, and 14 high-level members of the "Hundreds of Millions of Health Professionals" training project of the Provincial Health Commission. 

It has over 2,500 beds with an annual outpatient volume of 240,000, and a discharge volume of 80,000. It conducts around 20,000 surgeries per year.

The hospital has set up 42 departments, covering all three disciplines (or majors) of oncology. It has one National Clinical Specialization Specialty, seven Provincial Key Clinical (Construction) Disciplines (or Specialties), and nine oncology-based or clinical and scientific research departments, including Immunization, Etiology, Molecular Biology, a Pharmacology Research Laboratory, an Animal Laboratory, and an Epidemics clinic.
