The first cross-sea municipal bridge in Zhoushan, also the city's first bridge as part of the urban landscape, finished construction at the end of July, local media reported.

The bridge, spanning from the southern bank of the Xiaogan Island in the south to the Haitian Avenue of Zhoushan Island in the north, stretches 1,455.2 meters long over the waterway between the Dinghai district and Shenjiamen fishing port.

Its main body is a three-span self-anchored suspension bridge with twin towers, and the main span stretches 370 meters long, which makes it the longest among those of the same kind of bridges in the world.

The bridge is expected to help improve sea transportation links and thus facilitate the future progress of the CBD in the Xiaogan Island, as well as the urban development of the entire city at large.
