Lloyd's Insurance Co (China) Ltd is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Lloyd's established in 2007 in Shanghai. Originally named Lloyd's Reinsurance Co (China) Ltd, it works mainly on non-life reinsurance businesses. In 2010, it gained approval from China Insurance Regulatory Commission to extend its coverage to non-life direct insurance areas, hence the change of name.
Currently it covers both insurance and reinsurance businesses, including aviation insurance, agriculture insurance, fine arts insurance, engineering insurance, liability insurance, hull insurance, cargo transportation insurance, terrorism insurance and personal accident insurance.
