Study in Guangxi

With the economic development and social progress of Guangxi, its education also is on a new level. In 2002, the gross enrollment rate of higher education is 15 percent, marking Guangxi step into the popular stage for higher education. In 2007, the "two bases" has passed the inspection of the state, marking its 9-year compulsory education universal and young illiteracies have wiped out. In 2009, Guangxi has 5053 nursery schools , with 112.82 million kindergartens and 2.91 million full-time teachers; There are elementary schools of 14,290, with in school students 436.78 million, and 22.08 million full-time teachers;Junior High-schools are 2019, with 206.55 million students, 11.82 million full-time teachers; and 478 Senior high schools, with students 75.28 million, 4.15 million full-time teachers; 392 secondary vocational schools, students 62.89 million, 2.08 million full-time teachers; Post secondary schools are 75, including 29 universities (where 9 are independent colleges), 8 colleges, 31 vocational schools, 7 continuing education institutes. Total postsecondary students 691,500, including 1.88 million master graduate students, 52.83 million undergraduate students, and 3.10 million full-time teachers.

Guangxi Arts Institute

Guangxi Arts Institute (GXAI) is located in Nanning, the capital city of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The history of GXAI can well be traced back to the Guangxi Arts Faculty Training School founded by Xu Beihong, the great painter in 1938. Now as one of the six provincial institutions of higher learning for arts study, it is the only institution of higher learning for arts study that is authorized to confer master degree in Guangxi.

Guangxi Medical University

Located in the city of Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Guangxi Medical University (GMU), founded in November 21, 1934, is one of the 22 oldest medical institutes in China. GMU now is composed of 23 schools, 1 P. E. department, 11 affiliated Third-grade Class-A Hospitals, 71 teaching and interning bases. GMU has 4 centers for post-doctoral studies, 1 doctoral program in clinical medicine, 9 doctoral programs in other disciplines, 4 first-level master programs, 39 second-level master programs and 12 undergraduate programs. There are more than 11,000 full-time students. GMU has established exchange and cooperation links with universities, research institutes, and hospitals over 50 countries including USA, Britain, Denmark, Japan, Australia etc. Outstanding staff and teachers are sent abroad to give lectures, attend international conferences, as well as take advance studies every year.

Guangxi Normal University

Guangxi Normal University is a comprehensive university in Guangxi Province and it is located in Guilin, a world-renowned cultural historical tourist city. The university is comprised of 3 campuses- Wangcheng, Yucai and Yanshan, occupying a total area of 4100 Mu(about 300 hectares). At present the university consists of 27 colleges, with over 2180 full-time staff, 18000 full-time undergraduate students, 5300 post-graduate students, 71 doctoral students, and more than 1500 short-term and long term international students. Over 10000 students are engaging in correspondence courses and continuing educational courses. In the past 80 years since its establishment,the university has educated nearly 200000 students and other professionals for the local province and for the country.

Guangxi University

Guangxi University, a regional comprehensive university of teaching and research with a long history, was established in 1928. It is also the only one in Guangxi province which is included as a key university in the National “211 Project”. At present, Guangxi University has 30 colleges, offering nine disciplines of philosophy, economics, law, liberal arts, science, engineering, agriculture, management and education. It offers 97 bachelor degree programs, 186 second-grade master’s degree programs, 58 second-grade doctoral degree programs, and 7 post-doctoral research stations. The present enrollment includes 30,001 full-time undergraduates, 6,148 master’s degree students, 390 doctoral students, 766 international students and 20,000 adult students of continuing education. The university has 3,585 faculty and staff members, with 422 of them being professors (among whom, 144 are doctoral supervisors), and 711 associate professors.

Guangxi University for Nationalities

Located by the beautiful Xiangsi Lake, Guangxi University for Nationalities,or GXUN, lies in Nanning. It holds nationwide bases or teaching or research institutions such as the National Training Base of Undergraduate Education for Less-commonly Taught Languages designated by the Ministry of Education and China–ASEAN Legal Training Base. It is also one of China’s Key Universities Helping Teaching Chinese in the Surrounding Countries, an institution to recruit international students under the Chinese Government Scholarship, an utive School of the Training Program in China for Overseas Chinese Teachers, the utive School of the Volunteer Chinese Teacher Program and a test center for HSK (Chinese Proficiency Test). It has established two Confucius Institutes with counterparts in Thailand and Laos.

Guilin University of Electronic Technology

Founded in 1960, as one of the four universities focusing on electronic technology in China, Guilin University of Electronic Technology (GUET), is a key university of Guangxi which is jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.GUET now develops 22 academic units, 18 institutes, 28 experiment centers as well as a graduate school, covering 7 disciplines of engineering, science, economics, management, liberal arts, law and fine arts, proud of its 15 key disciplines in Guangxi, enjoying 3 doctoral programs, 1 joint doctoral program, 11 primary discipline master programs, Master of Business Administration (MBA), 2 professional master programs in engineering with 11 engineering master''''s fields of expertise, and 60 undergraduate programs.

Yulin Normal University

Yulin Normal University, founded in 1958, run by Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Regions, is a four-year undergraduate and multidisciplinary university. It is located in Yulin City, southeast of Guangxi, one of “the top tourist cities of China”. It has two campuses, East and West Campus, with an area of 1,200,000 square meters. There are 17 colleges with 46 four-year undergraduate specialties and 23 three-year specialties. There are 1,100 teaching and working staffs, 850 professional teachers, 90 professors, 2 doctoral supervisors, 34 master tutors, and 55 teachers with doctorate degree. In September, there were 15600 full time students and more than 15000 adult higher education students on campus in Yulin Normal University, which accepts more than 150 international students every year.
