Study in Heilongjiang

The education system in Heilongjiang, as elsewhere in China, can be simply summarized as "four educations" and "7 levels". The "four educations" refers to pre-school education, primary education, secondary education and higher education. The "7 levels" refers to kindergarten, primary school, junior high school, senior high school, higher college education, undergraduate education and postgraduate education.

Heilongjiang embodies many famous universities, institutes and academies, including Heilongjiang University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Harbin Normal University and so forth.

Heilongjiang University

Heilongjiang University is located in Harbin, a famous city with beautiful scenery in northeast China. Harbin is also known as the "Moscow of the East" and the "Paris of the orient". Its landscape is very beautiful and its architecture has special features. It is cool in summer, and skiing and skating are available in winter. It is especially famous worldwide for the beautiful and wonderful art of ice lanterns. Therefore, Harbin deserves the title of "International Metropolis". Harbin belongs to the standard Chinese Pronunciation Zone. It is the most place to learn Mandarin Chinese.

Heilongjiang University is a key comprehensive university with multidiscipline including liberal arts, sciences, foreign languages, engineering, management etc. The university covers an area of 1,920,000 square meters. The total building area is nearly 1,000,000 square meters. The total enrollment of full time students comes to over 30,000 and that of doctoral and master candidates 1000 and that of international students 600. There are altogether 10 branches of diciplines, i.e., philosophy, economics, law, education, liberal art, history, science, engineering, agriculture and management covering 71 specialties. The university has the right to confer bachelor, master and doctor degree.

Since 1981 Heilongjiang University has recruited and trained over 6,000 international students who came from Japan, South Korea, Russia, America, Great Britain, Germany and other countries. Heilongjiang University is the base of teaching Chinese as a foreign language in Heilongjiang Province. Heilongjiang university is the appointed institution of HSK and the university is the institution admitting international students under Chinese government scholarship program

Harbing Institute of Technology

Founded in 1920, Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT), with science, engineering and research as its core, encompassing management and liberal arts, economy and law, is now developing into an open, multi-disciplinary and world-class university.

The university offers approximately 2,000 undergraduate courses, 1,400 Master courses and 500 Doctor courses. The teaching goal for HIT has changed from "the Cradle of Engineers" to "International First-rate Innovative Talents". HIT graduates, with strong skills, professional competency and hard-working spirit, have received extensive social praise.

In 2012, HIT received $295 million in scientific research funding. 7 programs won the National Science and Technology Award, and 5 of them won the first completing institute, ranked No.3 among Chinese Universities. In recent 5 years, the SCI Paper Amount of HIT has increased over 170%, and the growth rate is much larger than the other six universities: Harvard, Tokyo, Stanford, Berkeley, MIT and HKUST. Today, HIT is a major partner in the planned 2020 space lab as well as a space station.

HIT have signed academic cooperation agreements of friendship with 151 institutions of higher education in more than 27 countries. Cooperation and exchanges are carried out between HIT and these universities via exchanging students, faculty and research staff, holding academic conference and cooperating in scientific research. From 2007 to 2011, HIT has been ranked No. 1 in China Scholarship Council Program for Doctor Degree students studying abroad.

Harbin Normal University

The fundamental conditions of the school are excellent for teaching and research with a competitive faculty. The school covers an area of 4.96 million square meters with the total building area coverage of the school is 1.6001 million square meters. The total amount of fixed assets is 2.435 billion yuan. The gross value of teaching and research equipments and instruments is 250 million yuan. The library has a collection of 3.81 million volumes. The school has a faculty of more than 3,500 teachers and workers, including 2030 full-time teachers, 1,080 professors and associate professors, 661 PhD candidate supervisors and supervisors for postgraduate students. The number of state-level experts with major contribution, state-level famous teachers, state-level teachers with the title of the "Hundred-Thousand-Ten Thousand Technical Leaders at Various Levels", and those experts that enjoy the special bonus from the State Council is 68 in this school. The university has a complete line of specialties and programs. Now there are 26 schools (divisions), 61 undergraduate specialties,1 state-level high-quality teaching team, 1 state-level experimental teaching demonstration center, 1 state-level innovative talent training test zone, 6 provincial experimental teaching demonstration center, 10 state-level characteristic specialties, 18 provincial key specialties,11provincial key programs (groups), 19 provincial key discipline leaders team, 2 class-A mobile post-doctoral research stations, 5 class-A PhD degree conferment programs, 42 class-B PhD degree conferment programs, 22 class-A master's degree conferment programs, 132 class-B master's degree conferment programs and 6 categories of specialized master's degrees. The present enrollment of the university consists of 42000 undergraduate students, MA students and PhD candidates.

There are 4 state research bases, 8 provincial and provincial key university research bases in humanistic social science, 1 key laboratory of Ministry of Education established jointly by the Province and Ministry of Education and 7 provincial key laboratories and key laboratories of provincial universities in the university. 7 provincial first-grade societies, such as Heilongjiang Society of Psychology, are affiliated to our school. There are 51 research institutes and R&D centers in the university. 14 academic journals sponsored by this university are published in public both at home and abroad.

The school insists on running the school under open policy. Extensive international cultural exchange and cooperation are carried out. Close relations on education and technical cooperation and academic exchange has been established with more than seventy universities, colleges and research institutes in more than twenty countries and regions including USA, Japan, Canada, Australia, Russia, Poland, South Korea and South Africa. Three Confucius institutes were founded overseas by this university. They are the schools that can enroll the "Chinese Government Scholarship Students" and "Confucius Institute Scholarship Students" and they serve as the bases for HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi) or the Chinese Proficiency Test.
